Tools used.

Ruler 2. Large sewing needle 3.brown, gold, red, black, white polymer clay

Razor blade 4. Embosser (not shown). 5. Clean work surface

Roll out some orange color polymer clay into a 1 cm log. Use the palms of your hands to roll out the clay on clean work surface.

Align the rolled clay log against a ruler. I used the centimeter measurement on the ruler. Create 1 centimeter notches with the razor blade.

Text Box: To get the clay as round as possible, roll the clay between your finger and thumb, and also in the palm of your hand.

Text Box: Rotate the clay 90 degrees and roll the needle along the clay. The second groove should intersect with the first groove you just made. Go back and refine the two grooves just made. Text Box: Take the large sewing needle and roll it along the middle of the ball of clay.
Refer to the diagram on how the ball of clay is divided with the sewing needle.

Text Box: Refer to the diagram groove number 4 to create the last groove. Text Box: Create grooves in the spaces created from the two previous groove you made. Refer to the diagram groove number 3.

Text Box: Go back and refine and grooves that are not to your liking.

Text Box: Create 3 logs from white, brown and black polymer clay.
Roll out white and brown clay to 3 mm in diameter. Roll black clay to 1 mm.
Measure 2 mm spaces on the white and brown clay. Use the razor blade to create notches. Set these clay logs aside.

Text Box: Use the embossing tool to create an indention where all the groove line intersect.

Text Box: Cut a slice from the brown log clay and roll into a log.
Insert the newly created log into the indention.

Text Box: Secure the log by lightly pushing it with your finger.

Text Box: Cut a slice from the white clay log. Roll the clay between your finger and thumb to create a ball. This will be the eye of the pumpkin.

Text Box: Place ball of clay on a clean work surface. Using your finger, apply light pressure to the top of the clay ball.

Text Box: Roll the clay side to side while continuing to apply light pressure to the top of the clay ball. The round ball will turn into a tear drop shape.

Text Box: It may take a little practice to get the tear drop shape. If your tear drop shape does not come out just right, just ball up the clay and try again.
Remember to make two!

Text Box: Secure the eyes to the pumpkin by applying light pressure to the belly of the tear drop shape. Flatten the eye to the pumpkin.

Text Box: This is my final placement of the eyes.

Text Box: Slice a speck of black of black clay and roll into a ball. This will become the pupil for the pumpkin eyes.

Text Box: Secure the eyes to the pumpkin by applying light pressure to the belly of the tear drop shape. Flatten the eye to the pumpkin.

Text Box: This is the final placement of the pupils.

Text Box: Use the sewing and score a “W” shape just beneath the eyes.

Text Box: Follow the numbering on the diagram to create the “W” shape.
Just use the very tip of the sewing needle.

Text Box: Use the embossing tool to create the finishing touches to the mouth.

Text Box: That’s all for this pumpkin tutorial. Pierce beading holes into the pumpkin before baking. I use a large sewing needle for this task. Follow the directions on the polymer clay package for baking.
